Management
Day4Energy has a strong
management team:
Dr.
John S. MacDonald O.C.,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. MacDonald has
38 years of experience in a number of industries, including energy, aerospace,
information and PV technology industries. He is currently serving on the
Canadian Department of National Defence Science Advisory Board and the
Task 8 of the Photovoltaic Power Systems Program of the International
Energy Agency, an international team studying the feasibility of very
large-scale photovoltaic power systems. Dr. MacDonald was a member of
the APEC Business Advisory Council from 1998 to 2003 and was the Canadian
member of the APEC Eminent Persons Group from 1993 to 1995. He also served
as a member of the Science Council of Canada, the National Research Council
of Canada, and the British Columbia Premier's Advisory Council on Science
and Technology.
Dr. MacDonald is a co-founder and the former Chief Executive Officer and
Chairman of MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates
Ltd., one of Canada's leading aerospace and information technology
firms. He is a former professor of electrical engineering at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology ("MIT") and the University of British
Columbia ("UBC"). Dr. MacDonald has been awarded eight Honourary
Degrees and is an Officer of the Order of Canada. He earned his Ph.D.
from MIT in 1964, a Master of Science from MIT in 1961 and a B.Sc. from
the University of British Columbia in 1959.
George
L. Rubin, MSc, CFA
President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Rubin has four years of experience in the financial industry and
six years of experience in the PV industry. Mr. Rubin was employed in
the area of corporate finance at Goepel McDermid Inc. and at Yorkton Securities
Inc. where he participated in a number of public and private fund raising
and merger and acquisition activities. Mr. Rubin received his diploma
(Master's degree) in Physics from Moscow State University in 1997, his
diploma in Financial Management from British Columbia Institute of Technology
in 1998 and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the British Columbia
Institute of Technology in 2005. Mr. Rubin is a CFA charterholder.
Dr.
Leonid B. Rubin,
Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Rubin has over 40 years of experience in the area of natural sciences,
with particular expertise in photovoltaics, photochemistry, photobiology,
applied optics, material science and electronics. He currently serves
as the Canadian representative to the International Electrotechnical Commission's
working group on sun concentrator systems.
Dr. Rubin is professor of biophysics at Moscow State University who took
early retirement in 1993. He has extensive experience in international
technology transfer transactions and has published more than 250 articles
and papers in scientific journals, including Photochemistry and Photobiology,
Journal of Luminescence, Journal of Applied Spectroscopy and Proceedings
of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He has invented numerous technologies,
21 of which have been patented and primarily relate to solar energy conversion.
He has also acted as a consultant to an international patent attorney
firm. Dr. Rubin received his Masters of Physiology with a Specialization
in Biophysics from Moscow State University in 1963 and received his Ph.D.
in Biophysics from Moscow State University in 1967.
John
E. Stonier, C.A.
Vice President Finance
Mr. Stonier is active in the renewable energy community and has over
20 years experience in senior financial and entrepreneurial roles in the
telecommunications, Internet and alternative energy sectors. He currently
serves as a director of the B.C. Sustainable Energy Association and the
Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association. Mr. Stonier was a co-founder of
GT Group Telecom Inc. and has held senior financial positions with Call-Net
Telecommunications Ltd., Westel Telecommunications Ltd., and Infosat Communications,
Inc. Mr. Stonier received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Licentiate
in Accounting from the University of British Columbia in 1980 and 1984,
respectively, and articled as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG LLP.
