Human Resources Assistant
Our small HR team is currently expanding and we are looking for dynamic
person to assist us with:
- Advising employees on the application of human resources policies
and practices
- Acting as a primary liaison with the Worker’s Compensation
board (working closely with first aid attendants to ensure that WCB
is provided with required information to process claims. In conjunction
with the Production manager and Supervisors manage return to work program
- Participating in developing new HR Policies, Programs and initiatives
- Ensuring legal compliance is met with respect to all relevant employment
legislation
- Maintaining, coordinating, tracking and monitoring a variety of Human
Resources programs or initiatives, such as per-formance management,
recruitment activity, etc. as directed by the Human Resources Generalist.
Refers concerns to the Human Resources Generalist
- Preparing and processing new hire paperwork
- Assisting in New Employee Orientation
- Supporting recruitment activities by coordination of a variety of
job postings, ad development including assistance in de-veloping interview
guides, contacting and interviewing applicants (i.e. initial telephone
screens when applicable), conduct-ing reference checks, preparing hiring
correspondence
- Assisting in benefits administration
- Maintaining HR record and files
- Administering health and safety initiatives
- And have fun doing it all
Requirements:
- Previous work experience related to Human Resources
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong ability to establish strong working relationships
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Tact, diplomacy, mature judgment and creative problem solving skills
- Have well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the
ability to operate effectively and professionally at all levels in the
organization
- Proficiency in MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential issues in a sensitive,
efficient and professional manner
- Demonstrates a 'can do' attitude with the ability to push initiatives
through to completion
Some previous experience relating to payroll administration is preferred
Completion of a post secondary education, preferably with a certificate
in Human Resources (or working towards certificate), plus a minimum of
2 years experience.
